I attended a yoga retreat led by Fela Adebyi in Bali in October 2012. The retreat was a wonderful experience and very well organised with classes held twice a day in a beautiful location in Ubud. The setting was by a forested ravine looking across to emerald green rice paddies. It was quiet, peaceful and visually stunning -perfect for a restorative yoga experience.
Fela is an excellent yoga teacher who is receptive to the needs of each member of the class. He is clearly highly experienced. He is able to bring yoga and meditation seamlessly together into the yoga classes, and he tailors the daily classes for each individual according to their level. At the retreat there were people both new to yoga and experienced, and it was notable how Fela quietly attended to the individual needs of each. As a yoga teacher his approach achieves a dynamic balance that brings together active and passive poses with mediation and breathing. Accommodation was very comfortably located in a villa set in lush tropical gardens nearby.
For anyone wanting to recharge their batteries in a beautiful location with an expert yoga teacher, I would highly recommend this yoga retreat led by Fela Adebyi.

When a couple of weeks ago I decided to joined Fela's retreat in Bali, I was experiencing some doubts about my yoga practice.
After 3 years of regular Vinyasa and Yin yoga indoors, I was feeling less focused and enthusiastic for yoga.
It had just become a bit of a soulless routine and the joy of practicing yoga was missing.
This wonderful 6-day retreat washed all my doubts away and brought back all the pleasure of practicing, as well as it arose many positive emotions.
When we were meditating or practicing restorative yoga, I could feel actual inner peace and relaxation and when doing more dynamic yoga, I could literally feel energy flowing through my body.
I had never experienced those sensations so deeply before and it brought me a lot of joy.
Because we were staying in beautiful Bali, our lively group had still time between the morning and late afternoon yoga sessions to enjoy an afternoon at a quite white sand beach, a dip in the pool at a beautiful resort, a visit to a beautiful Hindu temple with a walk in the jungle.
There were also all those very lively and delicious dinners that we shared together and Saturday's brunch at a charming organic restaurant nested in the middle of rice fields.
Vivid and heavenly memories that won't fade away, I'm sure of it.
Many thanks to you Fela for your dedication all week, and for guiding our enthusiastic group through this 5-hour practice a day, in an amazing yoga studio with absolute stunning and peaceful views.
What more can I say but "When is your next retreat in Bali?

One of the best things about Felas retreat was the opportunity for satsang (community) so that on top of 5 hours a day of expert yoga tuition I also had the company of like minded individuals to have meals, trips to the beach, temple visits and other things with. The whole experience was holistic in that sense and I really felt taken care of. Fela also provided a massage at a time chosen by ourselves and was always available to answer any querys and to settle us in. The great thing was that I could do as much or as little as I liked, it was all optional so I could spend time alone, skip a class (or just a pose!) to rest, feeling like it was my retreat so I could taylor it to meet my needs and take each day as it comes.
Another great thing is that the effects my efforts lasted longer than a week! Taking such time to practice at length deepened my practice immensly, my asanas improved and I felt very relaxed for a long time after the retreat had finished.

Fela was pure joy. He expresses calm, caring, loving, and funny - and his yoga teaching was absolutely beautiful.
Just the right amount of meditation, breathing, and difficult poses.
Silver Island Yoga (2013)
Fela is a fantastic teacher, who really took in everyone in the group and lead classes in our level, but still challenging and with options for more advanced/less advanced yogis. He worked through the whole body during the week and I feel so great after a few days of resting. He is a fantastic person and made us all comfortable both on the mat and off the mat.
Silver Island Yoga (2013)
Fela quickly assessed the range of yoga experience within our group and tailor-made our sessions to suit us all. He was intuitive about our energy levels and confidence and we all felt encouraged and challenged.
His explanations were clear and his demonstrations were beautiful.
Best of all he laughed with us and we had fun!
Silver Island Yoga (2013)
Our week on Silver Island was even better than we could have hoped. We feel blessed to have shared it with such amazing people, and our bodies and hearts have been strengthened and nourished.
Truly, we found peace and stillness. Thank you!

A private island in the med really sounds too good to be true, but Silver island is even better than it sounds and my week there was more than I've expected from a yoga retreat. We worked through our whole body and i think all of us felt stronger, healtier and happier when we left the island than we did when we arrived. Fela is a fantastic yoga teacher who really let us work both our body and mind, and that together with Lissa and Corne's delicious food, open heart and the beautiful suroundings made this a week I will remember for a long time.

I am so happy to have found Silver Island! The week i spent there was absolutely perfect. Blissful yoga, great food, a quiet environment, the contact with nature, no internet, a nice group of yogis, the sky filled with stars, the sound of the sea and the song of the crickets, all this combined resulted in one of my best holidays ever! Thank you so much, and i'll surely be back!!

Silver Island is a private paradise. The island is beautiful, restful, and fun to explore. Lissa and Corne are brilliant hosts - fun, loving, excellent chefs, a joy to spend time with. Fela was an amazing yoga teacher and a lovely person to get to know. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my stay and would recommend this to anyone I talk to. My soul was soothed, my body rejuvenated, my mind at ease - complete and total zen. We laughed, we meditated, we ate (and ate some more), we swam with phosphorescents, kayaked, lounged in the sun, and practiced beautiful yoga. A magical and memorable experience.
